I am a Republican and longtime Gilford resident, who is running for the State Senate seat in District 4. It will be a privilege and honor to represent the people of Senate District 4, which include the communities of Alton, Barnstead, Belmont, Gilford, Gilmanton, Laconia, New Durham, Strafford, and Tilton.

Many of you know, I am the  founder of Hurt and Forbes Insurance Agency of Laconia, a well-recognized insurance agency throughout the state. After successfully managing my company for more than 30 years, I sold the insurance company in 1999. Upon the sale of the agency,   I continued my career as an insurance consultant with a local insurance agency. I also hold a real estate brokers license and am associated with Roche Realty Group of Meredith.

As an avid learner, I have recently completed a Fellowship Course in Health Law with VCU-Virginia Commonwealth University and graduated from Champlain College in 2009 with a graduate degree in Law.

No stranger to politics, having represented Gilford in the state Legislature for four years,  I served by appointment of the Governor and Council on the state’s Board of Education, the Post Secondary Education Commission, the Education Commission of the States and New Hampshire’s Water Supply and Pollution Control Commission. In 2000,  I was also appointed to the Judicial Conduct Commission.   The commission was responsible for the evaluation of complaints about conduct of all Judges within the state.

I was taught from a young age to be honest, work hard, and serve the greater good of the community.  With a working knowledge of the NH state government and experience as a successful small businessman, I will fight for the issues that make a difference in the lives of the people in my district and State.
